What does the HPI check on our used cars in the North East
All our cars are HPI checked. The HPI check makes sure that the used car is its true identity with the HPI authority using over 60 million identities records at the DVLA and DVNI department. This allows us to confirm the make, model, derivative (in most cases), door plan and original colour, transmission and engine size. HPI also confirmes how many previous owners have been recorded - you can rest assured details like "one careful lady owner" is no con.
The Vehicle ID helps us confirm the true age of the used cars in terms of the year it was built and the date it was first registered at the DVLA. This gives us a good idea of plausibility of its mileage.
The HPI checks we run also checks for many other things on the used car before we feel the car is good enough sell to you: -
VIN/VRM - This will compare the VIN as well as its registration number (VRM) with the corresponding DVLA and DVLNI records to see of they match.
Personalised plates - Will tell us wether the plate has undergone one or more plate changes as crooks can use a change of plate to try to obscure a vehicle's true past such as accidental damage.
Stolen - Will make sure that the car is not stolen. The information that HPI use comes from the Police National Computer.
Outstanding Finance - The HPI will make sure the car does not have any finance still owing on it, using its comprehensive database of finance agreements with over 7 million current records.
Condition alert - The car has not been declared "total losses" by insurers as a result of damage, theft or both. Many of these cars can be repaired and put back on the road but can be "death traps".
Condition theft - The HPI Check will tell you about outstanding insurance interests against a vehicle, wether it has been classed as stolen.
Document Check - Where the used car has stolen and forged V5logbooks and MOT.
National mileage centre - This checks the reading on the clock with the reading in the database to make sure it has not been clocked.
